REVIEW: Geneva Striped Watches from Aliexpress

Hello!  I recently made
HUGE haul
from
AliExpress.com
If you would like to see the full directory of all the items from this haul

But we're just going to focus on these striped Geneva watches on this post.
The watches arrived within 2 weeks from China to Canada (West coast).
Super speedy as far as free shipping goes.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same item was available on eBay

Listed as:
Free Shipping Leather Strap 14 Color Stripe Dial Super Design Casual Geneva Wrist Watch for Women dress Boy and Girls watches
Link: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-Leather-Strap-14-Color-Stripe-Dial-Super-Design-Casual-Geneva-Wrist-Watch-for-Women/1859093280.html
Price: $2.96 USD

Available in the 14 different colour combinations listed above.

I purchased the watch in the two different colours.
Based on the stock photos, I thought I had purchased a light mint, and a coral watch.
However, the watches I recieved were significantly darker than
the images depicted on Aliexpress.  This was disappointing, because I was really looking forward
to getting a coral coloured watch :(
Watches turned out to be teal and red

There are nice screw like details to mark 12, 3, 6, and 9 o clock.
The brim of the face watch is also gold.

"Geneva" is imprinted in gold on the top.
I like how this watch does not tick very loudly.
Previously, I have purchased watches that tick loudly enough to
keep me up at night!

Platinum is imprinted on the bottom region of the watch face.

Although the face of the watch is gold, the buckle is silver.
This tends to be the case with ecomony priced watches from China.
NEEDS MODIFICATIONS

I fould the fastener for the red watch to be rather rather lose,
but it was easy to fix (albeit inconvenient)
There is a small stud the holds together the loop of faux leather.
I simply cut the strip of faux leather, and refastened it with the stud to the correct tightness.

Also, I found the watch to be to lose for my wrist.
I fixed this by puncturing a new hole into the strap with
a pen and a screw driver.

OVERALL

Pros:
Affordable
Muted ticking sound
Cute pattern
Quick shipping time

Cons:
Poor fitting
Buckle doesn't match face
Darker than advertised

Would I buy this again?
Yes.  Although the watches aren't perfect, kept in mind
that the colours are actually darker, I would purchase more of these watches.
Even if the battery dies, I would still were these as an accessory,
and these would make a great addition to some fun arm candy.

ELF

Oh my gord I want to make an order from ELF. They have a new nail polish colour called Teal Blue . . . mmm. Really sparks your imagination = 3 =

It looks like it should be solid colour (with no glitter or metalic texture). That's good, because I've found that solid colours from ELF often have a longer staying power. They also came out with a matte lipstick in the Studio line. Matte, kissable looking lips are going to be a trend this spring (: Elf currently carries a selection of rather pale, light colours, which is perfect for me! I hate dark lips since they make me look older "orz

I already look two years older that I actually am~

My Review

Use it everyday

By Samantha T. from Canada. on 11/13/2010

4out of 5

Pros: Good size, Good Value

Cons: Sheds sometimes

Skin Tone: Medium

Age: 16-24

I use this brush everyday for the inner corner of my eye for a highlight. Personally, I don't do too much blending in the crease, but it works the way I need it to. Based on the size, I think it would be good for getting a nice defined crease.

new crease brush, eyeshadow, blending.

Hi, guys! I got some packages in earlier this week (on Monday to be precise)! YAY! I finally found myself some time to share them with you. After a HORRIBLE day of school, I came home to find three lovely packages sitting on the doorstep. I always found it odd when gurus said they found stuff on their doorstep, because I'm always so used to seeing people having to sign some papers before getting a package. The mail man literally leaves the packages leaning against my door, on the doorstep.

What might it be . . . ?

FALSE LASHES (4/5)
I got 40 pairs of false lashes for just over $7 off eBay. The came in crisscross, natural (bellow), and voluminous. I want to use them, but they are incredibally long! I'm not too fond of falsies that look SUPER false. If you aren't oriental, your lashes, unlike mine, are probably longer and fuller. The natural lashes and crisscross lashes came in at about 1 cm long (I just put a ruler up the the lashes. I didn't stretch them out when messuring). The voluminous styed ones were roughly 1.5cm long. My own lashes? 7mm I'm assuming. They are anything but long.

Regardless, these lashes are definately something I would recommend! I may have had to wait 3 weeks to get them, but they are absolutely gorgeous!

In comparison to the last purcahse I made for false lashes, I am more that pleased. With my first purchase (diff. seller), the hairs weren't tapered. Instead of having each hair come to a fine point, they looked blunt and unatural. The lashes were very long, so I wouldn't be able to wear them regularly. Not only that, but the lashes were packaged in 4cm•2cm•2cm plastic box where they were crammed and messy.

The 40 lashes I recently purchased are much more satisfying. The lahes in a paper/cardboard box where each lash has its own spot; The hairs on the lashes look nice and tapered (YES!), and they are just as cheap. If only they were a tad SHORTER.

I find that the crisscross ones look more natural that the "natural" lashes.

DOUBLE EYELID GLUE (2/5)
I got two tubes of eyelid glue. I didn't want to use it on my eyelids, but for my eyelashes. I haven't been using any false lashes recently, so I can't tell you as to how well it works on lashes, but I can tell you about the consistency, etc. This glue it not my favourite thing for eyelashes OR double eyelids. This glue comes out translucent, and dries clear. Even after it dries, it is still tacky. If you are using this on your eyelids, it will stick to everything surrounding it; Eyeliner, eyeshadow, dust. Eventually, a dark line forms where the crease is. FYI, NOT pretty. I tried using it on lashes when I was at home, and I didn't seem very strong in comparison to LashGrip. I have yet to try it out of the house, but I'm not very confident in this product.

EPISTICK
The Epistick pulls out some peach fuzz, but I found that found that it would also TEAR some facial hair. I used it on my mustache area . . . upper lip, whatever, and it seems somewhat stubbly now. It also has some trouble plucking very fine hair, but I suppose that is to be expected. I mean, I only paid $1.40 for this coil with handles. Even so, I think it's a pretty good purchase. I HATE tweezing my upper lip, and the Epistick makes it LESS PAINFUL :D

VOLUM' EXPRESS MASCARA
I bought this mascara yesterday since it was on sale for $3.99

I LOVE this mascara! It's waterproof, so it hold a curl like magic. As for volume, I don't think I did anything crazy, but there were no clumps, and it probably does not smell as bad as the COLOSSAL.

That all for now,
♥ Sam

Hey there

I've decided to dedicate this blog to . . . more superficial things? Hair, makeup, clothes, etc. PK will be more daily life ^___^
